High School Integrated Curriculum


Boston University and the University of Richmond, leading providers of technology education, offer teachers and students a series of courses and integrated projects that target uses of technology and enhance existing curriculum. Each project is designed to simulate real-world experiences to better prepare students for their entry into today’s sophisticated and technology-oriented workplace. Four levels of instructional materials give schools great flexibility when integrating with existing curriculum. Onsite support from our team of curriculum coordinators ensures your school’s successful implementation of the program.

LEVEL 1:     STUDENT-LED INTEGRATED PROJECTS 

ITP
High school students are provided with a series of projects in eight technology areas that can be offered to academic departments for integration with existing curriculum. Each project includes detailed lesson plans for students and flexible project assignment sheets for teachers, which allow for easy integration with existing class materials. These projects can also be grouped as a complete technology course offering for incoming students or as an elective offering for a 90-hour technology course credit. 

LEVEL 2:     THEME UNITS

Life Skills
Life Skills provides students with the technology skills to prepare for college and beyond. Students focus on three distinct groupings of skills: college/career planning, financial planning, and recreational planning. Course projects include: online college search, calendar and scheduling, college entrance essay, résumé, online job search, interview skills and personal finance. Students also utilize online research throughout each section of this course.

Entrepreneur
Entrepreneur is a comprehensive course designed to provide students with skills to create a conceptual enterprise and bring it to market. The development of a business plan will serve as the foundation of the students’ efforts to organize, capitalize and develop their new businesses. Course projects include: logo design, marketing materials, customer database, mail merge, sales and expense budget, loan schedules, organizational charts, multimedia presentation, web page design and a business plan. Instructor handouts are included in the course materials.

LEVEL 3:    BOSTON UNIVERSITY/UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND:
                    ADVANCED MICROSOFT APPLICATION PROJECTS PROGRAM

ITP

The University Advanced Microsoft Application Projects Program is comprised of five comprehensive projects created in Microsoft Office. Projects include: illustrated report (Word), spreadsheet/database (Excel), newsletter (Publisher), multimedia presentation (PowerPoint), and web page design (FrontPage). The course includes resource material in basic computing, operating systems, and internet navigation. Students may receive a University certificate upon completion of the course.

                    COLLEGE AND CAREER TECHNOLOGY PROGRAM

The University College and Career Technology Program is comprised of three career technology courses: Adobe Photoshop CS2, Adobe Flash 8, and Adobe Dreamweaver 8 Web Page Design. Students have the opportunity to begin a focused education for their future careers and may receive a University certificate upon completion of each course.
